Captain Gravitone’s EPK (Electronic Press Kit)

Captain Gravitone & the String Theory Orchestra performs original roots-based music with elements of jazz, tango, rock, folk and funk.

Captain Gravitone’s 2019 release, “A Universe Parallel to Our Own,” broke the top 200 on the college radio charts in the US & Canada, and is available for free download through the Hennepin County Library MNSpin program.

The Players:

Eli Hoehn is a banjoist, composer, producer & bandleader. Eli was awarded a 2022 Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota Arts Board.

Sarah Houle plays tuba for Captain Gravitone. Sarah is a low brass specialist and composer performing with a variety of groups including the Mankato Symphony.

Kelly Coyle is a guitarist, bassist and composer. Kelly performs music in many genres, including jazz, bluegrass and 1950’s rock & roll.

Damen Price is a drummer, sound engineer, and airplane pilot.

Nate Beran plays trombone and accordion with Captain Gravitone. Nate is a multi-instrumentalist and performs for a variety of groups.

Peter Jacobs is an accomplished jazz pianist and plays keys for Captain Gravitone. Peter is a multi-instrumentalist and also playing trombone, accordion, flute and other devices we don’t know the names of.

Waiting for Super Man is an original song by Eli Hoehn with features of rock & jazz. The song is a reflection of the trials & tribulations of the modern human condition.

Master Beasley is an original song by Eli Hoehn with a progressive rock feel. Master Beasley is a poor, damaged soul on the verge of a horrific act of violence.

Strong Man (performing under the big top) is an original song by Eli Hoehn, that has elements of light jazz & funk. The song describes an important mentor to a young Gravitone, a soft-spoken & curious man, the circus strong man.
